Description
What it is. Flavouring substance obtained by chemical synthesis, with a minimum purity of 99 %, corresponding to (2E)-methylcrotonic acid (formula C5H8O2, CAS 80-59-1, FLAVIS number 08.064).
What it is for. Sensory additive from functional group 2b, intended for all animal species. It is generally used for its flavouring properties in complete feed, incorporated in the form of a premixture.
Points to watch. Recommended maximum content of active substance: 0.05 mg/kg complete feed (12 % moisture) for marine animals, 1 mg/kg for other species or categories; any excess resulting from the premixture dose must be indicated on the label. Storage conditions and thermal stability must be specified in the instructions for use, and protective measures (skin, eyes, respiratory tract) are required during handling. Authorisation valid until 9 August 2032.
