Description
What it is. 4-(4-Methoxyphenyl)butan-2-one is a flavouring substance obtained by chemical synthesis, with formula C11H14O2 (CAS 104-20-1, FLAVIS 07.029), with a minimum purity of 96 %.
What it is for. It belongs to functional group 2b of sensory additives (flavouring compounds) and is authorised for all animal species. It is incorporated into feed in the form of a premixture, intended to impart or reinforce a flavour note in the compound feed.
Points to watch. The recommended maximum content of active substance is 5 mg/kg of complete feed at 12 % moisture; above this threshold, labelling must state the functional group, identification number, name and quantity added. Storage and stability conditions must be specified in the instructions for use of the additive and premixtures, and personal protective equipment (respiratory, eye, skin) is required during handling. The authorisation expires on 15 March 2028.
