Description
What it is. 4-Methoxyacetophenone is a flavouring substance obtained by chemical synthesis (FLAVIS number 07.038, CAS 100-06-1), with a purity above 97%. It belongs to functional group 2b of sensory additives.
What it is for. It is used as a flavouring in complete feed for all animal species. The additive must be incorporated in the form of a premixture. As with other flavouring substances, it is generally used to modulate feed palatability.
Points to watch. The label must state a recommended maximum content of active substance of 0.05 mg/kg for marine animals, 1 mg/kg for cats and 5 mg/kg for other species, in complete feed at 12% moisture. Storage conditions and stability to heat treatment must be specified in the instructions for use. Protective measures against inhalation and skin or eye contact are required during handling.
