Description
What it is. Pentadecano-1,15-lactone is a flavouring substance obtained by chemical synthesis, with chemical formula C15H28O2 (CAS 106-02-5) and a minimum purity of 98 %. It belongs to the sensory additives functional group (2b), flavouring compounds.
What it is for. This additive is used for flavouring feed for all animal species, incorporated in the form of a premixture. Like other substances in group 2b, it is generally used to modulate the flavour of compound feed and support palatability, without a nutritional function of its own.
Points to watch. The additive label must state a recommended maximum content of active substance of 10 mg/kg complete feed at 12 % moisture; exceeding this level via a premixture triggers specific labelling requirements.
