Description
What it is. Linalyl propionate is an aromatic substance obtained by chemical synthesis, with a minimum purity of 92% (formula C13H22O2, CAS 144-39-8, FLAVIS 09.130). It is intended to be incorporated into feedingstuffs in the form of a premixture.
What it is for. This additive belongs to functional group 2b (flavouring compounds) and is authorised for all animal species. It is generally used for its flavouring properties, to modulate the palatability of compound feed. Its instructions for use must specify storage conditions and stability to heat treatment.
Points to watch. The recommended maximum content of active substance is 5 mg/kg of complete feed at 12% moisture; exceeding this level via the premixture requires specific labelling (functional group, identification number, name and added quantity). Personal protective equipment (skin, eyes, respiratory tract) is required during handling, due to inhalation and contact risks. The authorisation of this substance expires on 10 April 2033.
