Description
What it is. Flavouring substance obtained by chemical synthesis, with formula C9H14O (CAS number 17587-33-6, FLAVIS number 05.172), with a minimum purity of 97%. It belongs to the sensory additives functional group (flavouring compounds, category 2b).
What it is for. This additive is generally used to provide a flavouring note to compound feed, incorporated as a premixture, for all animal species. The instructions for use of the additive and premixtures must specify storage conditions and stability to heat treatment.
Points to watch. The label must state a recommended maximum content of active substance of 1 mg per kg of complete feed at 12% moisture; if the dose indicated on the premixture leads to this level being exceeded, the premixture label must state the functional group, identification number, name and quantity of active substance added. Personal protective equipment (skin, eyes, respiratory tract) is required when handling due to risks of inhalation and contact.
