Description
What it is. trans-2-Decenal is a flavouring substance obtained by chemical synthesis, with a minimum purity of 92% and chemical formula C10H18O (CAS 3913-81-3, FLAVIS 05.191).
What it is for. As a group 2b sensory additive, it is intended to be incorporated into feed via a premix, for all animal species. It is generally used to modify or standardise the aroma profile of compound feed, in line with common uses of this type of flavouring substance.
Points to watch. The label must state a recommended maximum content of 5 mg of active substance per kg of complete feed at 12% moisture; if the premix dose would exceed this level, additional labelling information on the functional group and quantity added is required. Operators must implement procedures to limit inhalation, skin and eye contact risks, with personal protective equipment required when exposure cannot otherwise be controlled; storage conditions and thermal stability must be specified on the instructions for use.
