Description
What it is. Trans,trans-2,4-nonadienal is a flavouring substance obtained by chemical synthesis, registered under FLAVIS number 05.194 (CAS 5910-87-2), with a minimum purity of 89% and chemical formula C9H14O.
What it is for. It is used as a sensory additive (functional group 2b, flavourings) in compound feed for all animal species, incorporated via a premix. Flavouring substances of this type are generally used to influence feed palatability and intake pattern.
Points to watch. The label must state a recommended maximum content of 5 mg active substance per kg of complete feed at 12% moisture; exceeding this via premix dosing requires additional labelling. Storage conditions and thermal stability must be specified on the instructions for use, and operators must apply protective measures against inhalation, skin and eye contact.
