What it is for. This additive is intended for flavouring feedingstuffs for all animal species. It is incorporated via a premix. As a flavouring substance of group 2b, it is generally used to standardise or modify the organoleptic profile of feed, with no nutritional function claimed.
Points to watch. The recommended maximum content of active substance is 5 mg per kg of complete feed at 12% moisture, as stated on the additive label. If the premix dose leads to exceeding this level, the label must state the functional group, identification number, name and quantity of active substance added. Operators must implement procedures to limit inhalation, skin and eye contact risks, with personal protective equipment required when these cannot be sufficiently reduced; storage conditions and thermal stability must also be specified on the label.
