Description
What it is. Nona-2,6-dien-1-ol is a flavouring substance obtained by chemical synthesis, with a purity of at least 95 %. It corresponds to chemical formula C9H16O (CAS 7786-44-9, FLAVIS 02.049).
What it is for. As a 2b-group sensory additive, it is generally used to impart or reinforce an aromatic note in feed for all animal species. It is incorporated via a premix rather than added directly. The label indicates storage conditions and stability under heat treatment, as for other flavouring substances of this type.
Points to watch. The recommended maximum content of active substance is 1 mg per kg of complete feed at 12 % moisture; exceeding this via premix dosing requires specific labelling. Operators must implement procedures to limit inhalation, skin and eye contact risks, with personal protective equipment required where these cannot be eliminated. Authorisation runs until 10 April 2033.
