Description

What it is. Cinnamon tincture is a liquid extract obtained by thorough extraction of Cinnamomum verum bark using a water/ethanol mixture (3:1, v/v). It is characterised by its cinnamaldehyde content (≤ 0.0012 %) and corresponds to FEMA number 2289.

What it is for. This additive belongs to functional group 2b, flavouring compounds, and is authorised for all animal species. It is generally used to provide a characteristic cinnamon aromatic note to complete feed, intended to be incorporated via a premixture rather than as such.

Points to watch. The additive contains regulated traces of methyleugenol (≤ 0.00001 %) and safrole (≤ 0.00002 %), and mixing it with other additives containing these substances is not authorised.
