Coproduits de la production d'acides aminés ou de leurs sels

Feed material Fermentation products Authorised in animal feed (EU)

Description

What it is. Coproducts resulting from the production of amino acids or their salts by fermentation. They result from the action of Escherichia coli K12, Corynebacterium casei, Corynebacterium glutamicum or Corynebacterium melassecola on a substrate made of a mainly plant-based carbon source, a plant-based or chemical nitrogen source, vitamins and minerals.

What it is for. These coproducts are generally used as a source of protein and nitrogen in compound feed for farm animals. They may contribute residual amino acids and minerals originating from the fermentation medium. Their use fits within a logic of valorising industrial fermentation residues in animal feed.

Points to watch. Composition depends on the microbial strain used and the fermentation substrate, which can lead to variability between batches. Crude protein and crude ash contents must be declared and checked on receipt. Traceability of the producing strain and process is a quality concern.
