Description
What it is. Enzymatic preparation of endo-1,3(4)-beta-glucanase (EC 3.2.1.6), produced by fermentation of the fungus Aspergillus neoniger MUCL 39199. The additive is in solid form and its activity is characterised by a colorimetric DNS method based on the hydrolysis of carboxymethylcellulose.
What it is for. This enzyme is used as a silage additive, within functional group 1k. It hydrolyses beta-glucan bonds in plant cell walls, which facilitates the release of fermentable sugars during the ensiling process. It is authorised for all animal species, since its action takes place on the forage before consumption. When not combined with other enzymes or micro-organisms used as silage additives, a minimum content of 3.4 DNS/kg of fresh matter is required.
Points to watch. The instructions for use of the additive and premixtures must specify storage conditions. Users must implement operating procedures and, where risks cannot be minimised otherwise, wear personal protective equipment (skin, eye and respiratory protection) to limit risks linked to handling. The authorisation for this additive expires on 26 January 2033.
