Endo-1,3(4)-beta-glucanase / EC 3.2.1.6 / Endo-1,4-beta-xylanase / EC 3.2.1.8

Additive Zootechnical additives Authorised in animal feed (EU)

Description

What it is. Enzymatic preparation combining an endo-1,3(4)-beta-glucanase (EC 3.2.1.6) and an endo-1,4-beta-xylanase (EC 3.2.1.8), produced by fermentation of Aspergillus niger (strain NRRL 25541). The additive is presented in solid form, with guaranteed minimum activities of 1,100 U/g and 1,600 U/g respectively.

What it is for. This zootechnical additive belongs to the digestibility enhancers functional group. It is intended for chickens for fattening, laying hens, pigs for fattening, minor poultry species and minor porcine species for fattening, for inclusion in complete feed at a minimum content of 138 U of endo-1,3(4)-beta-glucanase and 200 U of endo-1,4-beta-xylanase per kg. This type of enzyme complex is generally used to break down non-starch polysaccharides (beta-glucans, arabinoxylans) in cereal-based feed materials, in order to improve nutrient digestibility.

Points to watch. Storage conditions and stability under heat treatment are specified in the instructions for use of the additive and premixtures. Operational procedures and personal protective equipment (skin, eyes, respiratory tract) are required for users where risks cannot otherwise be reduced. Authorisation for this additive expires on 7 November 2027.
