Description
What it is. Ferric (III) ammonium hexacyanoferrate (II) is a synthetic technological additive, composed of an iron-cyanide complex (Prussian blue). It falls under EU number 1,1 in the feed additive register.
What it is for. This additive is used as an anti-caking agent in feed intended for ruminants (domestic and wild), calves, lambs and kids prior to the state of rumination, as well as domestic and wild pigs. It is generally used to improve the flowability of mineral mixtures, particularly salt-based ones, by limiting caking during storage.
Points to watch. Its inclusion must comply with the maximum levels set by the regulation applicable to each animal category. Dosage variability and storage conditions must be controlled to prevent any degradation of the complex.
