Description
What it is. Coccidiostat additive based on lasalocid A sodium (15 g/100 g), a polyether ionophore produced by fermentation of Streptomyces lasaliensis subsp. lasaliensis. The preparation also contains calcium lignosulfonate, ferric oxide and calcium sulfate dihydrate as carriers.
What it is for. Used as an anticoccidial in poultry feed to control intestinal coccidiosis in fattening chickens, turkeys, pheasants, guinea fowl, quails and partridges (except their laying birds). It is incorporated into compound feed by the feed manufacturer according to target species and production stage. Its ionophore mode of action disrupts ion transport in coccidian parasites.
Points to watch. Administration must stop 3 days or less before slaughter. Storage conditions and thermal processing stability must be stated on the additive and premix instructions, and the complete feed instructions must mention incompatibilities. Associated impurities (lasalocid sodium B-E) are capped at 10%.
