Description
What it is. Parsley tincture obtained from the seeds of Petroselinum crispum (Mill.) Fuss, through extensive extraction using a water/ethanol solvent. The additive is presented in liquid form and is characterized by its dry matter content, total polyphenols, total flavonoids, apiole, elemicin and myristicin.
What it is for. This tincture is classified as a flavouring substance (functional group 2b) and is intended to provide an aromatic note to feed. It is authorized for all animal species, with specific maximum levels set for horses. The additive must be incorporated into feed in the form of a premixture. Its use falls within common flavouring practices for compound feed.
Points to watch. Dry matter content is limited to a maximum of 0.9 %, with defined ranges for total polyphenols (0.018-0.022 %) and total flavonoids (0.004-0.012 %). Maximum thresholds also apply to apiole (0.0092 %), elemicin (0.0016 %) and myristicin (0.0011 %), compounds to monitor given their naturally variable content in the plant. The authorization is valid until 4 February 2034.
