Preparation of endo-1,4-beta-glucanase

Additive Zootechnical additives Authorised in animal feed (EU)

Description

What it is. Enzyme preparation containing endo-1,4-beta-glucanase (EC 3.2.1.4) produced by fermentation of Trichoderma citrinoviride (strain IMI 360748), available in solid or liquid form, with a guaranteed minimum activity expressed in CU/g.

What it is for. Classified as a zootechnical additive (functional group 4a, digestibility enhancer) for all poultry species for fattening, laying or breeding, ornamental birds, suckling piglets and weaned piglets. The enzyme hydrolyses beta-glucans present in feed, especially barley- or oat-based diets, to reduce digesta viscosity and support nutrient utilisation. It is used as a feed additive or via premixes incorporated into compound feed.

Points to watch. Minimum content set at 500 CU for poultry and ornamental birds and 350 CU for piglets; usage instructions must specify storage conditions and thermal stability during processing. Handling requires personal protective equipment (respiratory and skin protection) unless risks are controlled by other operational measures; authorisation runs until 7 February 2034.
