Description
What it is. Zootechnical enzyme additive from functional group 4a (digestibility enhancers). It is a preparation of endo-1,4-beta-xylanase (EC 3.2.1.8) produced by fermentation of the fungal strain Trichoderma reesei (BCCM/MUCL 49755), supplied in solid form with a minimum activity of 15,000 EPU/g.
What it is for. This enzyme hydrolyses arabinoxylans from plant cell walls, improving nutrient accessibility and reducing digesta viscosity in the gut. It is used in poultry feed (fattening chickens, other fattening birds, ornamental birds) and in pig feed (weaned piglets, other weaned pigs, fattening pigs and other fattening pigs). The recommended dose in complete feed is 1,500 EPU. The additive is generally incorporated into diets rich in cereals and cereal by-products to enhance their digestive utilisation.
Points to watch. The instructions for use must specify storage conditions and stability to heat treatment, which may vary depending on premixture formulation. Personal protective equipment (skin, eye and respiratory protection) is required where handling risks cannot be removed through organisational measures. Authorisations per species have distinct expiry dates (2028, 2029, 2030) that should be checked before use.
