Preparation of semduramicin sodium (Aviax 5 %)

Additive Sensory additives Authorised in animal feed (EU)

Description

What it is. Preparation based on semduramicin sodium (Aviax 5 %), an active substance produced by fermentation of Actinomadura spp. ATCC 53664. The additive is presented in solid form, combining mycelium, food-grade mineral oil, sodium carbonate, sodium aluminosilicate and soybean mill run residues.

What it is for. This additive falls under functional group 2b, flavouring compounds, and is authorised for chickens for fattening. In this context, it would generally be used as a component of compound feed for broiler chickens, incorporated into the premix according to standard formulation practices. Its use remains restricted to the species and animal category authorised by the EU register.

Points to watch. Related impurities (epimer, aglycone, demethylated, hydroxylated, demethoxylated and decarboxylated forms) are each limited to under 3 %, with total impurities not exceeding 7 %. Use must strictly comply with the authorised target species (chickens for fattening) and the authorisation period, valid until 30 September 2034; composition and semduramicin sodium content may vary between production batches.
