Tourteau d'extraction (de graines) de moutarde

Feed material Oil seeds and fruits Authorised in animal feed (EU)

Description

What it is. Mustard seed extraction meal is a by-product obtained after extraction of volatile mustard oil from mustard seeds. It is an oil-protein raw material derived from the mustard seed crushing industry.

What it is for. This meal is generally used as a protein source in feed formulas for certain livestock species, as a complement to other protein raw materials. It would be used to partially replace other meals, following common formulation practices. Crude protein content must be declared and taken into account when calculating the ration.

Points to watch. Compositional variability depending on seed origin and extraction process justifies regular analytical verification of crude protein content. Mustard seeds and their meals may contain sulphur compounds (glucosinolates) that could limit incorporation rate; no regulatory maximum level is specified in the available sources.
