Description
What it is. Albumin is the product obtained after separation of shells and yolks from eggs, pasteurised and possibly denatured. It is a terrestrial animal-derived raw material, rich in crude protein.
What it is for. It is generally used as a protein source in feed formulation, particularly for species requiring highly digestible protein. It could be used at sensitive stages (young animals, early rearing) where protein quality is sought. Its use should be adapted according to the denaturation process applied.
Points to watch. Crude protein and the denaturation method, where applicable, must be declared. Product variability depends on the pasteurisation and denaturation process; no regulatory maximum level is specified in the official description.
