Description
What it is. Camphene is a flavouring substance (sensory additive, functional group 2b, FLAVIS 01.009) obtained by chemical synthesis, with formula C10H16 and a minimum purity of 80 %.
What it is for. It is used as a flavour in feed for all animal species, incorporated in the form of a premixture. As with flavouring substances generally, its use is intended to modulate the organoleptic characteristics of the feed rather than to provide a nutritional effect.
Points to watch. The recommended maximum content of active substance is 5 mg per kg of complete feed at 12 % moisture; above this level, the functional group, identification number, name and quantity added must appear on the label. Storage and stability conditions are specified in the instructions for use of the additive and premixtures, and personal protective measures (respiratory, eye, skin) are required during handling.
