Description
What it is. Decanal is a flavouring substance obtained by chemical synthesis (CAS 112-31-2, FLAVIS 05.010), with a minimum purity of 92 %, belonging to functional group 2b (sensory additives) under EU regulation. It is incorporated into feed in the form of a premixture.
What it is for. It is used as a flavouring substance in feed for all animal species. The recommended maximum content of the active substance is 5 mg/kg of complete feed at 12 % moisture; above this level, the labelling of premixtures, feed materials and compound feed must state the functional group, the additive name, its identification number and the quantity added.
Points to watch. The instructions for use must specify storage and stability conditions. During handling, organisational measures and, where necessary, personal protective equipment are required to limit risks of inhalation and skin or eye contact.
