Description
What it is. Dodecanal is a flavouring substance obtained by chemical synthesis, with the formula C12H24O (CAS 112-54-9), registered under FLAVIS number 05.011. The additive has a minimum purity of 92 %.
What it is for. It belongs to the sensory additives functional group, flavouring compounds, and is authorised for all animal species. It is incorporated into feed in the form of a premixture. The recommended maximum content of the active substance is 5 mg/kg of complete feedingstuff at 12 % moisture, to be stated on the additive label.
Points to watch. Above this recommended level, labelling of premixtures, feed materials and compound feed must state the functional group, name and identification number of the additive, and the amount of active substance added. Storage and stability conditions must be specified in the instructions for use, and personal protective equipment is required against inhalation and skin or eye contact risks.
