Description
What it is. Heptanal (FLAVIS 05.031, CAS 111-71-7) is a flavouring substance obtained by chemical synthesis, with chemical formula C7H14O and a minimum purity of 92 %. It belongs to functional group 2b of sensory additives (flavouring compounds).
What it is for. This additive is used to flavour feed intended for all animal species, incorporated via a premixture. The recommended maximum content of the active substance is 5 mg/kg of complete feed at 12 % moisture; this value must appear on the additive's label.
Points to watch. Above the recommended maximum content, labelling of premixtures, feed materials and compound feed must state the functional group, name and identification number of the additive, as well as the quantity of active substance added. The instructions for use must specify storage and stability conditions, and protective measures (inhalation, skin or eye contact) are required for operators.
