Description
What it is. Indole is a flavouring substance obtained by chemical synthesis, registered under FLAVIS number 14.007 (CAS 120-72-9, formula C8H7N), with a minimum purity of 97 %. It belongs to functional group 2b, sensory additives.
What it is for. It is used as a flavouring in feed for all animal species, incorporated into feed in premix form. Its use relates to palatability and aromatic formulation strategies for compound feed, to be applied according to the operator's usual practices.
Points to watch. The recommended maximum content of active substance is 0.5 mg/kg of complete feed at 12 % moisture; above this level, labelling must state the functional group, identification number and quantity added. Storage and stability conditions must be specified in the instructions for use, and personal protective equipment (respiratory, eye, skin) is required during handling.
