Description
What it is. Nerolidol is a flavouring substance obtained by chemical synthesis, with the formula C15H26O (CAS 7212-44-4, FLAVIS 02.018), with a minimum purity of 97 %. It belongs to functional group 2b of sensory additives (flavourings).
What it is for. It is used as a flavouring additive in premixtures intended for animal feed, across all species. The additive is incorporated into feed in the form of a premixture, in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions for use. Its use serves a purpose of palatability or olfactory standardisation of compound feed.
Points to watch. The recommended maximum content of active substance is 1 mg/kg complete feed (12 % moisture) for pigs and poultry, and 1.5 mg/kg for other species and categories. Labelling of the functional group, identification number, name and quantity added is mandatory above a content threshold per kg of complete feed. Storage and stability conditions must comply with the instructions for use of the additive and premixtures.
