What it is. Terpineol is a flavouring substance obtained by chemical synthesis (CAS 8000-41-7, FLAVIS 02.230), with a minimum purity of 91 %, belonging to functional group 2b sensory additives.
What it is for. It would generally be used as a flavour in compound feed for all animal species, incorporated in the form of a premixture. Its use follows the same pattern as other flavouring substances, intended to modulate the odour or taste profile of the feed.
Points to watch. The recommended maximum content of active substance is 5 mg/kg of complete feed at 12 % moisture; above this level, labelling of the functional group, identification number, name and quantity added is mandatory. Personal protective measures (respiratory, eye, skin) are required during handling due to inhalation or contact risks.
